What are the admission requirements for your recovery residence?

Do I need to have completed a rehab program before moving in?
While we sometimes recommend detox before coming to Gloria’s House, residents are not required to complete any other program before being admitted into sober living.
What is the daily structure like in the recovery residence?
All residents are expected to be up and getting ready for the day by 7:30. During the week, residents are expected to attend treatment programming at Southern Sky Recovery. Other activities during the week involve attending 12-step meetings as well as having dinner together. At the end of each day, residents get together and enjoy a house meal. Depending on each resident’s program, there is also time to relax at the house, to swim in the pool, work out or watch TV.
Are there any outings or activities that Gloria’s House provides?
Every weekend, there is a planned outing, whether it be to the beach on Hunting Island, nature walks on Pickney Island, going to the movie theatre, going bowling, or any other activity the house as a group chooses to attend.
What are the house rules?

Will I have access to recovery meetings or therapy while living here?
All residents are required to attend four meetings a week in addition to their regular weekly treatment programming.
What kind of living arrangements can I expect?
All of our bedrooms are semi-private rooms, meaning you will share with one other housemate.
How does this recovery residence support my transition back to independent living?
During your time at Gloria’s House, you will work closely with Southern Sky staff to create a comprehensive and competent transition plan into independent living. Southern Sky also adds an additional week beyond your regular treatment, which is dedicated to creating a stable transition plan.
What steps should I take to apply, and how soon can I move in?
All residents can simply fill out the online form, and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Are there curfews or restrictions on leaving the home?
Residents at Gloria’s House operate on a group schedule, so there is no need for curfews. The house moves as one family, doing things together to promote fellowship and camaraderie.
Can I bring my own vehicle, and is transportation provided for appointments or meetings?
Residents cannot bring their own vehicles to Gloria’s House. Transportation is provided for treatment, meetings, and social outings.
What is the drug and alcohol testing policy?
Both Southern Sky and Gloria’s House utilize a random testing policy.
Are meals provided, or will I need to cook for myself?
Dinner ingredients are provided every night for dinner and residents cook dinner together. Also, each resident is given an allowance for shopping each week for breakfast, lunch, and snacks,
Can I bring personal belongings, such as a pet or furniture?
No pets are allowed at Gloria’s House other than service animals. Residents are encouraged to ask about any other personal belongings ahead of time.
What level of staff supervision is provided in the home?
Gloria’s House has a director and a house manager who are involved daily in operations and accommodations.
Are there opportunities for social activities or community involvement?
Gloria’s House will attend social events in the area and stay heavily involved in community support.
What happens if I relapse while living in the home?
Relapse can sometimes be part of the recovery process. Each relapse is assessed individually for the acuity and risk of both the resident and the house as a whole. Decisions are made based on what is best for the resident and their peers.
How do you ensure a safe and supportive environment for all residents?
Gloria’s House has a robust collection of policies and procedures designed to create a safe environment while also promoting an atmosphere conducive to long-term recovery. We are a proud member of SCARR (South Carolina Alliance of Recovery Residences), to which we follow strict guidelines that identify a positive atmosphere for all residents in early recovery.
